185 3SGTE head

Postby RedMist » Sat May 29, 2004 6:48 pm

Is the 3SGTE head the same as the 3SGE head? I've cracked a head and need a replacement, was wondering if I could replace it with the cheaper 3SGE head.

Apparently the ST182 head is not the same as the intake ports are smaller, just like the non T-VIS 4AGE but I'd say you could get away with using an ST162/ST165 head but then again there is one less stud on the exhaust manifold side. Can you not fix the crack?
May I ask how you cracked the head in the first place?

Blew a lower radiator hose last year and the thing was heated quite bad. We replaced the gasket a month or so later as it consumed water (actually pushed it out the overflow). We had the head tested and I knew it was getting porus. Should have replaced it then. It started consuming water again about a month ago.... and now it just shunts the lot out the back of the head within a minute or so of running.
