My brother found a gbox in Pick a Part (not in a car) which looked alot like a t50, with the diagonally split case and 22 spline output shaft but... it seems to only have 5 gears (including reverse).

Does this mean its a T40?

yip from memory the T40 is the 4sp box.....correct me if i'm wrong

i think a t40 being an older gearbox would be 20 spline tho

yea there was a 22 spline t40 at mungery pickapart earlyer this week
out of car

yeah sounds T40, they come in both splines 20 and 22.

yeah, a mates got a spare gearbox that came with another one he bought, TRD T40 with close ratio's (apparently, thats what the guy who sold it said and he raced AE86's). who wants a 4 speed though?
