the mighty k50: "a" and "k" series QUEST

Postby wannabe86 » Tue Jun 15, 2004 11:15 pm

has anyone swapped over the "k" series k50 internals into "a" series k50 housing?
i know its just a k50, but it might be worth it for us poor fellas.

are all k50s the same number of splines? like 20?

so if i got a k50 from a ke70, could i just swap the housing from the "a" k50 to use in the ae85???????

please anyone who has definite info.

thanks

I know that for a starlet you need to use the Starlet back part of the K50 and then use the front of a k50 from an ae85, very poor explanation I know!

I once had a K40(A) and a K50(K) and I thought it would be a good idea to swap the internals over but it was just too complicated without a Haynes manual. Very easy to stuff it up IMO.

Ks don't have split cases where you can remove the bellhousing. What're you doing exactly?
