sc-14 help

Postby wanado13's » Sun Jul 04, 2004 6:20 pm

hey just wondering if anyone could help.
My standard sc-12 recently spat the dummy in my levin leaving me without any wheels. After looking into different things ive decided that I can't afford to turbo it  but I want to talk to someone in wellington that has put a sc-14 in a ae92 levin. Does anyone know of a shop that has done this sort of thing before? I reeeeaaly need some help or im just guna have to replace my sc-12 with another stocker which isn;t really what i want to do!

sc14 fittage isnt too hard.

the bottom of the sc14 bolts to the engine and then a top bracket had to be made to hold the sc in place.
You will also need to redo the intercooler piping and use a front mount intercooler. sc12 clutch is needed to be swapped over with a spacer made where the clutch bolts onto, this spacer has to be made so the pulley lines up with other pulleys, then a new tensioner position is needed as the belt will slip, well u will always have to adjust it if u dont put the tensioner near the sc pulley.

prob all up a sc14 conversion would be near $2000 fitted

its me old man whos doing the conversion he owns a workshop they do a few projects like this, but i'm sourcing out all the info and technical issues of fitting the sc14.
Basically i'm designing how it all fits in and they are making the stuff.

Speedtech prob thinks it's really hard to fit when it isnt.

keep my email and when we get the conversion done talk to me then :D

gutted about afm.......hmm actaully very happy I am afm. This allows me to run a stock ecu and up to 20psi of boost if i want :D.
Also a 13.5@174 with no traction seems pretty good to me.
When i go to a programmable ecu the afm comes off anyways

On the stock map ecu they have this big power drop after 6000rpm or so. So thats why if u turbo the later models cars u need to put a programmable ecu which can cost $2000+ setup.

Even standard the later model ecu gives power drops and is why many of them dont go very well.

Hmm u need to do a bit more research You dont need custom inlet manifolds, speedtech prod dont get how these cars work and what can be fitted off other cars to make it work.

sorry man i'm in auckland.

both engines are very similar and have their advantages.
When modifying them hard you wont notice any difference in the engines.

well i am talking about FWD but it will be the same for a rwd as well.

The bottom bracket that holds the sc14 in place is actually the bracket that holds the alternator or is it ps, anyway one of those, you use that bracket on the rear of the engine to hold the bottom of the sc14 in place, then that basically lines up the sc14 in place and then a top bracket needs to be made which is very easy to do now.

also the sc12 pulley and clutch needs to be used on the sc14 and a spacer needs to be made to push the pulley out as the sc14 shaft is longer.

if u need to know anything just pm me.
