Bluetop Idle

Postby ee904age » Tue Jul 20, 2004 6:05 pm

My bluetop is idling at approx 2500rpm! I have all vacuum hoses blocked,(except FPR, MAP sensor and TVIS).

Blocking off the bypass hole in the throotle body helps sometimes but still only brings it down to 1500rpm.

I have noticed no pattern with temp/idle as it does it when hot and cold.

The idle screw is wound completely shut and timing is at 10 deg btdc.

Any help appreciated.
Cheers

is this only when its cold?
coz they idle at around 2000rpm when they are cold and then drop off to just under 1000rpm

otherwise it could be your throttle position sensor(tps) needing to be replaced.

Anyways... my GTZ was idling high as a while ago. Turns out I just needed to turn the AIC (Air Idle Control? or whatever its called) around a bit.

What about the rocker cover breathers? Or even the oil cap.
IAC could be an issue, possibly even a coolant sensor short. Wouldn't hurt to check the ECU codes.

try the injector seals (just wiggle the injectors around a bit and see if idle drops.
have you blocked the brake vacume hose too?

Test the Cold Idle Valve?

Tape the hole at the bottom of the throttle body and start it up, but dont drive round with tape there.

The car may stall since you have the idle bypass screwed down. So wind that up and see if it idles sweet.

Then you will know you CIV is dead, or needs to be reconnected, or blocked up.
