I had my crank polished a week ago. only a little 4k . it cost me $30 and i couldnt even tell if they had done anything. Didnt get a grind but i dont think ill ever go there again. They took a week just to measure all my clearences (1 hours work). They found ive got a problem (told me late friday) and im stuffed for another week cos of them.
You just have to keep hassling them every day to get things done, here they are anyway...

Before you judge someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you judge them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

there is a few places around
a grind they take a cut off the bearing journals ths is for cranks that may have run a bearing or have deep scratches

a polish is only when they use a very fine linishing tape and polish the journals thou only normally if it has a few minor scratches, to be honest if you dont know what your looking at you probably wont be able to tell its been done

if they crank is black on the jornals it wont normally be repairable
will also pay to get it cracked tested no matter what you have done.
if you get stuck let me know i have a few machine shop contacts.
thru work i normally use franklins in pukekohe, or hdr in ash rd manukau

Is 'Franklins' the same as 'franklin cam services'?
