1993 Levin 20V Silvertop 91 or 96 ?

Hey, sorry if this has been asked before, but I just purchased a 1993 Levin GTApex and I was wondering if I should run it on 91 or 96 ? Thanks.

technically you wanna run it on 102, as this is japanese premium ( i think)

all jap imports should be run on high octane as thats what they are tuned for

u will find it runs alot smoother through the rev range if you use 96/98 over 91. personally i will never go back to 91..

My corona seemed to run better on 91, of course it somehow managed to smack something into the sparkplug (piston/valve i don't know) at about 7300 in 3rd gear then have a complete spazz and started going bang bang then knock knock bang ting bang. Of course, because it was a toyota engine I let it rest for a week, put in some new plugs and she decided to give me another chance. Of course thats totally irrelevant to this thread and me because I bought another engine but I just felt like whoring it up... I have 513 posts Surprised myself.

always put the best fuel you can get in the 20v, makes a huge difference, NEVER run them on 91. they are made for jap 100.
if you want to run your levin on 91 buy an sj

Agreed. However to be honest i can't feel any difference in 98 from 96, even tho i always put 98 in . . .

i notice a big difference when i put octane boost in, so the difference is probably greater than 2 octanes points

Mate you know how they say 'raises octane by 5 points' or so?

Its going from 96 to....... 96.5

The amount of toluene in those little canisters of octane booster wont do shite.....you need a few litres of toluene to say raise it from 96->100

yeah different brands to different things though, the last bottle i got (cant remember the brand) made a huge difference in my car. ill go get another bottle and let ya know the brand

Well, I filled up on 96, or 97 I think it is at Gull petrol stations, and noticed a huge difference, much nicer running through the rev range. Cheers.

I'm SURE I've noticed the difference between BP 96 and 98 in my GTZ. That high rpm flat spot was definitely worse running on 96 than 98.

Oh, and use 98 in your 20V if you have it available.

One way to tell the difference between 96 and 98 is how far you can go on a tank of gas. You will find you can actually go further on 98 than 96 in a 20V or 4AGZE.

Doing this all the time fouls your plugs. Leaves a red gunk i wouldnt reccomend it at all.

Just use 98, gives you better power and increases economy.
