Well the guys at work started properly today :D Some minor probs with clutch fitment (nothing that money didn't fix  ) Original engine is out and just waiting on the flywheel, clutch and pressureplate to come back from Whangarei (apparently they making up a custom clutch cos the others were all different??? :? ). I got some pics on my phone and will put them up asap.

what was the problem with the clutch? A gt4 clutch with a disk to suit the Corona box should have worked with no problems...?

The GT4 clutch that was in there was pretty rooted, same with the pressure plate. dunno exactly what they're doing but they are only charging me cost for parts so as long as it works, I'll be happy. Be good to have newer stuff anyway. the problem was with the gearbox shaft I think? was smaller? Just so sick of waiting.

YAY!!! sortof :?

Well the engine is in, I'm gonna get some photographs tonight but I gotta work so they wont be up until tomorrow. Just some wiring and stuff to do now plus get to auckland and get the downpipey thingy

Only had one other problem since the clutch fiasco and that was that we needed a speckle* bolt to mate the engine and the corona gearbox? I'll scan my massive bill when they give it to me, might have some info on there.

*special

Started labelling wires and shit today 8O It's gonna be a real mission. Just gona go hard and hope for the best. the plugs are slightly different and there's a fair amount of fiddling to be done under the hood...... Inside the car looks worse  I'll get there.

I would love to look under a st185 hood, If anyone can email me some pics of sections of the engine bay I would muchly appreciate it.

Also my front engine mount is pretty $&#$%, anyone got one?

I can see it taking pretty much all my 2 weeks of holidays to get things done.

Got the engine, it doesn't look like it gonna be that bad. Main problem is gonna be the fuel system and maybe forgetting to put oil in before we start it

Yeah, I was waiting for that tooooo

The only thing that took time was the stupid workshop bin so busy, then a couple of bits were needed then....... . I fully understand what you were saying now though

But you're still a bastard for bringing that up :P

To be fair though, they only started on the 27th and its still less than two weeks....(grasping at straws now  )

Well, I lose a whole weekend cos they didn't finish fitting the powersteering, they had to find some bolts for the fuel filter as mine was of a totally different ilk so spent this afternoon doing that instead. (They are a busy workshop though, with more than just my shitbox to worry about)

Was supposed to tow it home tonight though. :(

I hear ya
This is the entire loom out of my Rover (all 14kg of it!) which I've removed in preperation for the cage fitment.

Image

Need to go through the entire loom and rip out all the unecessary wires like ABS, aircon etc. God I hate wiring

Dude....... that's just masochism personified 8O

British cars were a bit dodgier in the wiring though? or is that just a rumour?

Gotta be done though, must have more and more....... Mr Oizo's wisdom filters through all.

Where do you think the phrase "Lucas - the Prince of Darkness' comes from

TBH, it's not actually bad on later cars - it's the early BL days that were a problem. Couple of years back we were lying 3rd in class in Targa in a Montego turbo when an electrical fault stopped the fuel pump  We were on course to finish second ahead of an M3 BMW and a 911. But good ol' Lucas put paid to that :(

That might be changing that to Toby- the shittest auto electrician soon.

Well, they've finished. It's all up to me now 8O

Things to be done,
Intake- easy
Wiring- using both fuseboxes until I can get some more celica plugs(watch your cars at the drags  )
Mount the coils and other thingies.
Vacuum hoses- got diagrams off the net.
Boost gauge- easy
Put check engine light somewhere- big neon that says EJECT EJECT :D

There's a few other things too. (I'm sick, can't think)

The early british cars (or was it just skoda??) came with all white wire. Then they thought theyd paint a strip down the side. It was a good idea,... untill it fell of a few years later :o
(yep prety sure it was just skoda)
The wiering in my car was SO CRAP* when i got it. It almost stared a fire when the whold fan relay wire burnt out...
