1G-GTEU into Ute?

Postby Liloss » Wed Aug 11, 2004 6:55 pm

this probably is the wrong place to post, but it's on some Nissan Forums aswell. I was thinking of having someone put a 1G-GTE into my dads 1987 Nissan Navara for his birthday, is this engine going to fit into the Navara's engine bay? and yes it's a 4x4 aswell. Any Ideas?

Also wheres the best place to start to get more torque from this engine? I don't know a great deal about engines but i'm learning :D

Thanks Guys

firstly why would you want to put a 1G into a 4x4? the damn thing has barely any torque at all and is all round shit....i am speaking from experience.

now i dnt wnt to be/sound like a nutsack or woteva but there's allot of other choices you can go with. eg. a V8...if you really want a toyota motor then drop a 1UZ in there as there shud be enough room.

It's gonna be one hell of a job anyways if your using a toyota motor in a nissan as mounts will most probably differ. Also if I'm not mistaken you'll need to rewire everything with the Toyota loom.(plz correct me if i'm wrong)

better to start out with a rwd mabey you can use frount end from a rwd nivara ie struts lower arms hubs ect and ditch the frount diff , make it rwd
heres a quick run down of what ya need to do and bear in mind this is just the basics theres still alot to take into concideration

*engine mounts and cross member mods
*gearbox mounts
*driveshaft custom job
* upgraded diff
* radiator
* wiring loom and computer
*fuel line/tank upgrade
* exaust remade and new downpipe from turbo
*speedo and tacho re calibrated to match toyota signals
* fire wall mods mabey ?

there might be a semi bolt in engine from the same stable as the nivara that would provide less hassles
and you wont have much change from 5k if ur paying someone to do the work depending on where u went and who does it might cost more
