AE101 Seat Belt

Postby jayznz » Fri Aug 20, 2004 12:09 pm

Hey all,

Got a warrant bout a month ago, and the guy said theres fine threads on the edge of my drivers seatbelt, which he reckons would start to fray in the near future.

Well now as it turns out my seatbelts started to fray, and so i need to replace it.
Do i have to get a brand new one or not? I found a topic from a lil while ago where people were arguing about new laws comin in to stop 2nd hand s/belts being installed, is this the case?

I gotta 94' fxgt can i install a s/belt from a regular corolla? Cos theres heaps more of those being wrecked than fx's

how much would i expect to pay for a s/belt, new or 2nd hand? and are they hard/legal to install yourself?

thanks

AFAIK you only need a brand new seatbelt if you have failed a warrant for your seatbelt...

Sounds to me like you're planning ahead, so a 2nd hand one will be fine and perfectly legal.

Installing a 2nd hand one yourself is perfectly legal...... and easy to do as well....

When i failed my wof on my fx for my seatbelt, it cost me roughly $200 including fitment. Never really looked at a 2nd hand one coz it wasnt an option

I know Head Auto Spares in petone (Toyota wreckers in Wgtn) have an Ae101 Fx-Gt they're wrecking at the moment which looked to have some ok seatbelts..

Hope that helps you in some way
