HELP hooking up gizzmo luanch controller

Postby Bazda » Fri Oct 08, 2004 2:30 pm

jsut prucahsed one of these, got a tacho interface from a vr4 and hooked that all up.
shift light works fine, but cant get the launch control to work properly.

I used a wire off my ecu called IGN, it pulses the revs nicely but back fires heaps in between pulses which isnt good for the turbo!

So gizzmo told me to try the +ve wires on the injectors, my ecu having 2 +ve wires on the ecu for the injectors, whcih mean si had to cut them and hook them together using the wires from the launch controller, but then when i start the car it runs all funny.

so i'm running out of ideas of what wire to intercept to make the launch controller work..

any help would be great

I take it it would be on a twin coil set up since you are using a tacho interface.

The reason your car runs funny is because you had two separate inj triggers that fired at different times and you have looped them together.
Now when it tries to fire injectors 1 and 3 it will fire all four and then when it tries to fire 2 and 4 it will fire them all again.
This CAN fry your ecu by overloading the driver circuit.

I suggest that you run two diodes from the neg of each coil and join them together and then try to trigger the Gizzmo from that.
( wire the two diodes so that the end with the grey stripe points away from the coils.

hmm ok

there are 2 wires that need to be hooked up for the lauch control to work, it taps into a wire by cutting the wire, and rejoining one wire of the gizzmo to one side, and other to the other side to comlete the circuit.

so if i take 2 diodes, link them back into one, then I got one output.....what do i do with it?

Ok, must work different to the one i'm thinking of.

So there is one wire for the rPM or tacho signal to it and another two that you hook up to the trigger wire in and out that you cut?

If thats the case there is another way of doing it.
