And since when can your car run on water with only 2 stainless tanks, a plug, a bit of hose and an everyday cassette? It must have small print somewhere saying you need a specially trained installer (ie MacGyver) to come and put it in for you

If someone hasn't already reported that to Trademe, I have.
I can't believe the nerve of some people trying to take advantage of people that have no mechanical knowledge of an engine

dont be so cynical, sure the seller seems extremely clueless, but it could be some form of aquamist water injection setup which is a bloody good idea..

No, the seller's not clueless, he's trying to take advantage of the clueless!!

Lol, post some questions yes, get any answers before it ends - i'm guessing no (well even if he does answer them, they probably won't be of any helpful information)

I still fail to understand how any normal motor can run on water.

Postby shaggz » Mon Oct 11, 2004 12:01 pm

guys yuo can run a car on water well sort of its very complicated, you can make a tank with electro plates in it and this boils the water or sumthing and seperates the hydrogen from the oxygen and hydrogen is combustable talk to paul chinery who is posted under chins i think from new plymouth he has made his own set up and is freakn brainy on this matter
drive it till it breaks, then upgrade it

Yes but you have to have an engine capable of running hydrogen as fuel. You won't be able to use hydrogen in a petrol engine ;)

some facts
Hydrogen WILL run in an engine, trust me ive done it.
Making the hydrogen form water is eazy, just supplying the power to do it isnt.
Hydorgon has an octane rating of 125+. At a compression of 30 to 1 it wont self ignite, like diesel. Petrol will.
Once igniton has started, the engine needes to rotate faster than 700rpm, or detonation starts.
This is on the gas alone.
Personal research has found this information, and ive got more but it would be boring, so i will stop with the facts and say something that is proven to work.

Water as a liquid, yea the stuff you drink, can be used as an octane booster/replacement as an intercooler.
Basic principal is water is injected into the manifold cooling the charge entering the cylinder. The colder the charge, more air/fuel, more bang, more go. simple. To get the most out of this benifit is an increase in compression ratio.
This 'water injection' is proven on the race track as a nessesaty to support 40-50psi manifold pressure in 2 litre engines. they use to get 900+Hp out of it. they raced in the us in the 70s.This works with the existing gasoline engine.

Dude, you dont know shit.

You're fairly well right on the hydrogen thing, but on the water injection, you've got your wires crossed somewhere. Water injection helps stabilize the explosion, as you said by cooling the charge. You dont use it as a replacement for an intercooler, and it DOES NOT give a boost in power. In fact, it may even degrade power slightly, being you're displacing some potentially explosive mixture for just water. However, water injection does allow you to run higher compression/more boost without detonation.

Running on water and running on hydrogen are very different things. You couldnt have a car with a tank of water converting it to hydrogen on the fly, because it takes more power to turn water into hydrogen than the engine will produce, and it's a slow process.

The issue with hydrogen is that, as stated, it's not an efficient conversion. So even using hydrogen cells doesnt solve any problems, because the hydrogen still has to be produced somewhere. Being that most power plants still run on coal or oil, we'd still be using just as much fossil fuels as before, but in a powerplant instead of in cars.

Anyone heard of compressed air cars? That's right, cars that ru on compressed air. They're looking to be the next big thing. http://www.aircar.com
