I have a digital camera but its not here right now and wont be back for a while so i found another picuture of my engine thanks to google.
The car is a 92 Corolla. 1300cc engine, 12 valve, 2E vairant.
Body shape is hatch if that means anything, for pic of actual car follow link in sig.
Any way, theres a big round thing on top of the engine which i figure must be something to do with air intake as its connected to vairous ammounts of piping that goes down to infront of the (when in drivers seat) right hand head light. So i look at all this piping and figure if i take some of it off it will be less restrictive and allow more air in, much like a pod but without it being a pod.
So i disconnected the bottom half of the piping and went for a drive. It drove fine, seemed to go faster, but thats proably a phylogical thing.
Now what im wondering, is it ok to leave it like this?
The piping that i disconnected was just pipes, and on the connected side of the piping theres a bit that looks like it really needs to stay, its got hoses and stuff like that comming out of it.
Ill expalin a bit of the pic, the red is where its been disconnected from the rest of the piping that goes down to infront of the right hand head light.
The yellow is the bit that looks like it really should stay there because its got hoses comming out of it (but they arnt shown in the pic)
The blue bit is the large circle thing that i mentioned earlier in my post, is it a carby? Im really confused as to what its for and what it does. Please tell me what its for

Thats all i have to ask for now, just trying to find out stuff about my car.
Thanks
