Difference from early to late model AE86 lsd

i know that there is a difference in size of the splines and axels between them but i wasnt sure if there are any other differences ???

i guess, that's it....
also you will be super lucky to find the later model spline! As I believe they only come out in the facelift model! which hardly any in NZ.

I already showed you I grabbed this off club4ag look at the ugly verniers

looks to be around 24mm for early axels and about 25.3 for later ones. The cahnge over occured in early 1985 so there will be a few floating round but still be hard to find replacements if you have these

there is a difference in splines I will look it up for you cant remember.

so what you are saying is that nearly all the AE86 rear ends in NZ are the early type ( same as TE71), and the mullet who sold his so called genuine 4.1:1 AE86 diff on Trade Me for $900, was in fact selling a TE71 diff as the AE86 never came out with a factory 4.1.

Yes you'd be right there Joe. There are easy ways to tell like the ratio which only TE71 came out with 4.1:1 ratio and if it was the complete diff different caliper set ups and a few other things
