upgrades?

Postby rollaholic » Mon Oct 25, 2004 1:59 am

alright so, i think i've finally decided to go ahead and turbo the GT, (ae82 rolla) but theres a few things i wanted to get out of the way first.

i figure while im saving for conversion, i can do a few things in preperation. the vehicle currently has a 4AGZE run by an older link, but i didnt do the conversion so im not sure of all the details. i think it may have a larger than stock fuelpump, is there any way to be sure? its an intank one.

are there any reasonably easy brake upgrades i can do? ideally i'd like two pots on the front, and larger diameter disks - i've got 15s on at the moment and they're likely to stay, so it cant be too massive i guess. im guessing superstrut brakes wont match, but im told GTZ levins had two spots as well - is this true? and if it is, will they bolt onto my current setup? (which is completely stock as far as i can tell) its not exactly awe inspiring at the moment with only the SC (running 10psi) so i am guessing it'll be a must for a turbo version.

is it worth getting a larger intercooler now? the car currently has the stock top mount in a front mount position, but of course most of the piping will be different on a turbo cooler, is it worth the hassle? or should i wait till the turbo is done before going down that road. i was thinking a vr4 or evo item would be sufficent, i'd be pushing for 150-160kw at the wheels to begin with.

i know theres a lot of threads on this kind of stuff, but any comments in general on the conversion wouldnt go amiss - and i was hoping for specific info on the brakes especially :)

Brakes

Postby CAMB01 » Mon Oct 25, 2004 6:42 pm

The GTZ brakes are single piston calipers, with larger diameter disks, and the pistons are about 20% larger than stock GT brakes.
They should all bolt straight up.
