the arms on top of the knuckles are different, dont let anyone talk you into changing them, the powersteer ones are slightly shorter giving you a quiker lock. if you fit non powersteer ones you will increase the turns needed lock to lock.

the steering coloum is a diff part number between the two, including the yoke that connects the shaft to the rack so best to check that out as well

ur keeping the car now? YOU BASTARD MAN.

nah keep it man, just replace ur steering bush with an alloy one :). they do that in silvias for more feedback, not like ae86's are heavy, i mean, with p/s you could turn the wheel with 1 bloody finger.

pretty sure you will need the cross member also- the mounting brackets are different between the power steer and non p/steer.

the shorter arms dont give you quicker lock, but more travel under full lock, and more wheel angle for the same amount of turns on the steering wheel, the rack dictates how many turns to lock, unless you have stopers on the arms/hubs like te71 etc :) no power steer is good if you push the car as alot of the p.s on early toyotas can feel very light and floaty at high speed

With rwd Carinas, power steer vs non power steer... might be the same with AE65/86
It looks like there might be a difference in the length of steering column that comes throught the firewall. I've (temporarily) got a non power steer rack and crossmember in one of my Carina parts cars (removed the power steer rack and crossmember). The splined shaft out of the steering column only just engages the nonpower steer universal joint.
I think this is because the power steer universal joint sits higher due to the valve part of the power steer.
If you can get it at the same time grab the steering column just in case you have this problem later.
Also grab the non powersteer arms - sure they are longer but with the different rack you could get bump steer if the arm geometry if different.

I have no power steering but Im pretty sure I have a power steer rack :?

She's pretty hard to park but hey, at least I'm getting a workout. If you decide to go non-ps I'd be keen on buying the ps parts off you or let me know whats involved with fitting a non-ps rack! Cheers

Yes you will need a non power steer cross member, rack and tie rods as the power steer ones are a bit different in length but not by much.
you will also need a non power steer steering column as well as there is a difference in their length.
I use power steer lower strut arms (steering knuckles) in my race car on my non power steer rack and it does take less turns lock to lock, and I do not have any bump steer issues at all
