GTT Low Fuel Indicator

Postby YTWGN » Sun Oct 31, 2004 11:24 am

At what point on the fuel gauge does the low fuel light kick in on other GTT's out there?

Mine is just under the 1/4 tank mark. Thought it might be a bit too high.

Faulty gauge maybe?

Mine does the same thing, been meaning to find out how far it runs on the light, but so far I haven't got around to it as I can't be bothered carrying a fuel can with me, but it's at least 60kms.

My carina does a similar thing. Goes for a good 100km+ with the light on.

part of owning a car, is knowing EXACTLY how much fuel you have according to your gauge, and exactly how far you can travel before running out. Just something you should know about your car. 8)

Yeah, sort of like in my corolla, if the needle is below the bottom line it means its about to run out of petrol.

Yep - mine also comes on just below the 1/4 tank. Comfortably another 60km in it then. I normally refuel at ~500kms per tank, round town daily driving.

Typical toyota fuel gauge, needle barely moves in the top half of the tank, then plummets over sweet FA kms for the bottom half... designed to make the driver cautious, perhaps??

my GTT ran 143.2 kilometres in traffic with the light on before it wouldnt go no further.

it gets about 5 - 7 mm beneath the bottom line before your runnin on fumes

Just so I don't feel left out.....YEP mines the same, and like most of you I can get at least another 60kms out of it before adding anything.

They're like that because at those fuel levels it can get fuel surge and eventually damage the pump.

The light is a warning light after all
