Gabriel shocks - any good? [Super Strut Shocks]

Postby aesc » Wed Nov 10, 2004 3:38 pm

Hi, well I think im gonna get some new inserts put into my factory front Super Strut struts. My mate who works for Autolign can get me some Gabriel inserts that will apparently fit with a few small modifications.

Has anyone had any experience with Gabriel and can tell me what they are like? My mate has told me they are german (i think) and have a v good rep, but thought id get a second (and non salesman) opinion.

Thanks

Hey man havent had direct experience with gabriels but I have a mate who is going to be getting replacement gabrial shortened shocks for the rear of his skyline. He hasnt got them yet but they are supposed to be quite good. He's nott he sort of person to be buying shit stuff for his car, just though I'd let you know that.

I've never had them on a toyota, but on my old Mini I had them and am about to get a set for my new one. They were pretty good- heavy duty, good price compared to some alternatives too.
Cant believe im still a member here.

Cheers guys. Yeah I have heard quite good things about them and they are definitely well priced. Think its worth a try.

Apparently Monroe make inserts that fit Super Strut struts also as boosted gtz has done it.

Ok got these inserts successfully put into my Super Strut front struts today. Apparently it is a bit of work and slight mods are needed to be made to the struts. If anyones interested (and for search purposes), the part numbers are:

Gabriel G44747 cartridge
Lock ring 01714306 (screws into top of strut to hold cartridge in-i think!)

Got mine from Autolign, however most likely available elsewhere.
