HELP need info on ae86-1uz conversion

can anyone give me any pointers in the right direction on the easiest/best way to get around this problem. i`m puttindg a 1uz-fe into my ae86 but have found that the steering rack hits the sump. Have thought about modifing the sump but theres not alot the take off of it to ease the problem have also thought of making a new crossmember but the 86 rack will still hit does anyone know of anyone who has done this????is there any other rack i could use?? any help would be greatly recieved,cheers[/b]

I take it you are aware there are 3 different sumps for 1uz. Failing that i know someone who can make you a custom one.

dry sump setup would be the way to go, if not that mod the sump and the oil pickup to extend further away and add lots of baffles

failing that nzae86 would be the man to talk to, hes got/putting one in his 86

cheers for the ideas guys.I`m using a front sump engine.its not the boldge thats hiting but the fact that i cant get the engine low enough without it bottoming out on the steering rack mount but have decided to ripe it out and make a new sump and crossmember to hold the steering rack mounts lower will let ya`s know how it goes

i was putting a 1uzfe in my fd3s batman, i had a similiar problem with the sump / block hitting the steering rack,
i unknownly cut my crossmember and steering rack mounts, then found out the steering geometry angles must remain the same, unless you intend to redesign the entire steering, or else you get bump steer, and in something like that, its the last thing you want,
if it is possible for the sump / alloy adaptor to be modified rather than moving the steering if do that first,

just to give you an idea of how complex it is im a mechanic and do a lot of fabrication myself and it had me $&#$%/d.
i spoke to a race car builder and was told: to re mount the steering rack and change the steering geometry to suit, would be in the vacinity of $2000+ then certification.

cheers man the hole front end is being redone with bigger struts and brakes to match the bigger rear that i`ve already done but its all still open to any helpful ideas was gonna make new sump at work 2day and try it before rippen up the old crossmember anyways but will keep the old bump steer in mind hadn`t thought of that
