4agze and KM

Postby 1goodidea » Sun Nov 14, 2004 1:19 pm

Hey, just wondering how many km has your 4agze done?

what work has it needed?
common problems?

always s/c or converted to turbo?

how much did it cost for a rebuild?

bought mine at 150,000kms at start of 2003.
now its done 171,000kms.

When I first bought it, there was a minor oil leak that needed fixing and engine needed a oil change (previous owner wasnt very maintenance minded).
Since then, apart from general wear and tear items like spark plugs and cambelts I have replaced a faulty ECU (but mine may have malfunctioned due to improper grounding..usually toyota ECUs are very very reliable as Iam told by a few mechanics)

Mine stayed S/C its whole life and runs the factory pulley etc (boost around 8psi). I got my supercharger belt tightened when I first bought the car since it was loose. Other than that, I have jst topped up the SC oil and it seems to be fine.

Cooling system seems fine too, just had coolant flushes now and then and everything is in working order.

Mines almost clicked over to 286,000. Been turbo since about 284,000 I guess, leaking a bit of oil but thats nothing a turbo rebuild and rear main seal cant fix

Oh... gearbox mount may be on its way out too, but we'll have to wait and see :)

Bought my 93 GTZ with 98ks on it for 7k about 3 years ago.

Turbo'd it at 108k and its now at 153k and all good.

Had a rebuild at about 115k - at this time due to condition of engine we reckon that the car had done a fair few more ks than the speedo was showing.

I bought my 93 GTZ about 2 1/2 years ago, had 70kms on it now has 102kms.

At around 90 kms had to get a few things done including camshaft seals, bottom seal, waterpump was beginning to leak water so got that done at the same time too, also rocker cover gaskets and distributor o-ring (v minor).

Also have had the gearbox reconditioned, some bearings were getting noisy although the synchros were sweet. Lucky I had a warranty, came to around $1100 8O

Only other mechanical related thing was the voltage regulator went, that wasnt too expensive though.

Generally ive found mine very good, ive thrashed it since ive had it and it still is a very sweet runner and doesnt burn any oil.
