Heres one you guys probably couldnt answer (starlet / cynos)

My gf has a cynos B, basically its a starlet, with a bigger engine, and has rear discs (oh we are so proud of this :D).

it has a 5efhe, which is a 5efe engine with higher compression pistons (gives it 10more hp or something), anyway, we are planning on a turbo :), since this car is basically a gokart, with the steering it has, and the setup it runs... its a bloody easy car to drive, turn a corner and she goes that way, a little sway but bloody fun to drive, at 800kgs, i think a turbo is a must. btw they weigh LESS than starlet's, MWUHAHAHAHA

anyway, so we thought, a 4efte conversion could be the trick, after pricing up a drop in, new turbo, ecu, injectors, intercooler, piping and everything, it came to 10k from hyperformance, i was gob smacked....

so anyway, the cheaper option comes to mind!

a 5efTe setup, which is basically her engine... with differnt pistons, turbo and new ecu etc.

my question is, can you get lower compression 5efe pistons? perferiably forged, will the 4efte pistons fit? remember the 5efe is a 1.5 the 4efe is a 1.3, we still want the 1.5 because that little amount of cc's will make a difference with a little bit of boost.

and can anyone guess on a price for turboing a non turbo car.

turbo = $1000
Intercooler = $1000 (inc piping and those very expensive silicon bends)
ecu = $2000, just a link, with a bit of tuning to get er running
exhaust re-done + extractors = $1000 possibly slightly more...

anything else? i mean boost control and crap is about 500ish? (bov, boost control... guages etc).

hoping for either a gt25 or gt28 (whats the best bet for a starlet engine basically).

right, can anyone tell me!

If the E series engines are any thing like the A series, you should be able to use the 4efte pistons in your 5efhe motor. I know sweet f**k all about any thing apart from 4A's though, so I could be completly wrong ( and probably am )

A 4efte should still be far easier and cheaper though, as you all ready would have the injectors, top mount, turbo, basicly every thing to get it up and running. but if you want to be different the 5efhe is the only way to go ;)

nah, i had a look on the cynos forums and such, seems the 4efte swap is the easiest way to go... unless you want 6psi (we are aiming for 16-20ish), an engine built for boost is alot easier.

she loves this little car, so changing cars is out of the question, its grown to me as well :) defentially a kewl we thing (go drive one, we go karts i tells ya!). plus they dont look like shuttles *cough* glanza's*
