HELP with diagnosing

hi

just wondering if any one could help with diagnosing wats wrong with my car. just got it over a week ago :( toyota corolla fxgt 1986. can barely make it up hills, am reving the engine and feels like it should b going, but just doesn't move, don't think its the engine. not just on hills, now on flat as well. if stop at a light takes heaps of effort to get moving.

any ideas would b great. thanx heaps

i suspect clutch....

best thing for you is to contact a friendly welly TS memeber whos knowledgable in these things and get them to have a look for you

It did sound like you had some clutch slippage last week when you took off from the meet (on thursday night)

There are two possibilities I know of that can cause this. They are;

Poked clutch (hey, it's an almost 20yo car,and if it hasn't been replaced, it's probably due to die)

Oil leak from the crank seal, if oil gets into the clutch (the part that has the gripping pads/ring) then it's screwed, no way to fix other than pull it all out (again) fix the seal & put it all back.

If the revs rise, but the speed doesn't then you've got a slipping clutch.
