Flaring (sp?) gaurds on AE82 FXGT rolla

Postby MINTFX » Wed Jan 26, 2005 6:10 pm

Is there anyone out there that has done it? I have factory 15" levin rims with 195/55/15 Dunlop Formula tires. The front tires rub on the upper outter gaurd and I am really wanting to lower it. It only rubs when a hit a decent bump or going too fast round a corner (not that I ever do that  ). So has anyone out there flared their gaurds on an ae82 and still leave the plastic edging on? Any comments on how I could stop the rubbing and lower it would be sweet.

I have done exactly that. I have factory liven 15"mags on my ae82 and it is also lowered on super low lovells springs. I had to cut a portion of the plastic interior guard off to stop rubbing and flared both front quaters. All you need to do is bang out the factory flared lip more with a panel hammer and dolly then just bog over the top, comes up all good. Be aware when you lower it tht with the 15"s on, the rear wheels rub terribly on the mud flaps and i recomend you just take them off :D looks beter to 8) you may also need to buy stiffer for front and deffinately rear. Hope this helps a bit
