white smoke at approx 4,500rpm on mr2 n/a, that normal?

had a cruise i my mate's new 93 MR2 SW20 and it white smoked at approx 4,500rpm, now is that normal on mr2 n/a? only happens in first 10 mins of driving or so.

well for the first few mins its gonna be cold
