where to hook boost guage light up to

Postby Santa'sBoostinSleigh » Wed Mar 09, 2005 3:31 pm

ok heres the problem:
when the guy who put the boost guage in my car (before i owned it) installed it without hooking up any of the electrics (the light) he just cut the wires off = dumb ass
therefore night-time driving i cant see my vac/boost levels

where would be the best place to tap the power off for it? the parklight wire im assuming... hmm sounds like it could be a mission and a half.
its in a GT-T caldina (97, manual), if anybody has a diagram or knows the colour/location of the wire i would appreciate ya help!

cheers
Andrew

When I hooked up the boost gauge on my Sigma, I just found the nearest ACC wire. You dont see the light during the day, si there's no problem with having it on whenever the car is on.

I always just take the ignition casing off, and find the wire coming from the lights on/off switch and solder onto that.

Mine's hooked up to the stereo head unit dimmer wire - +12v when the lights are on, works fine.

Stereo illumination is the easiest to use and then just ground to your nearest bolt or just use a self taping screw.

i just use the parklight feed. Not a mission at all.

just cut it, strip it, join an extra wire (solder, crimp etc), and your away laughing.

that way, the light on the gauge switches on when you flick the lights on one click.

but everyone elses ways are just as good.
Except dr-x's, having the light on constantly is stupid. Dont be slack.

lol, always gotta have the "Giving Dr-X shite" statement in there dont ya?

Just find the wire for your headlights, its not that hard. Get a multimeter/test-light and find the wire on the steering column which is live with lights on and dead with them off. The bulbs in the gauges are only 5W so they draw piss-all current really

Stereo illumination is probably the green wire at the back of the stereo and is prob. the easiest to find for someone who has to ask.
