3S-GTE ID Help (PIX)

Postby Corona » Tue Mar 29, 2005 11:48 pm

Hi,

I need some help ID'n some parts on my 3S-GTE to see if I need to ether block up the hoses, or find out what needs to connect to them

The first pic below shows a hose that has been broken off at the timing belt end of the manafold.
Image

Here there a several parts that are missing conecetions.
The one from the Rocker cover obviously needs to go the the manafold somewhere, where shal I connect this?
The ones from the throtle body (the pipe winds from one to the other and has sereral other connections comming from it as well), shall I just block them off, or should something else be connected there?
Which one of the Manafold ones are connected to the Turbo presure sensor and MAP sensor?
Image

These pipes are just hanging there at the moment, I know someting was connected up at some stage, as they both have broken connectors on them. What went here?

Any help would be appriciated

Thanks

Neil

The vacum hosing on the first pic goes to the fuel pressure regulator and the other one goes to the map sensor which is usually on the firewall.
Third pic hoses go to the valve on the bottom of the PS pump which is missing on your engine.
Might pay to no. all the hoses on the 2nd pic and then I can tell you where they all go.

Pic Edited

Thanks for the Info on the First Pic. I thought that there was a MAP sensor missing somewhere, but thought that it was from the other end of the manafold

On the last pic, there was no connections on the P/S pump that these hoses could have connected to. I havent looked on my car yet, but the engine is out of a Celica. I belive that the engine was origionaly AllFours, he might be able to shed some light on what they were connected to.

I belive that there might be an A/C Idle up missing was well

Nope, they connect to the idle up valve on the base of the power steering pump, all 3S engines are like that although the nipples on the valve are easily broken off during engine removal and installation.
A= inlet piping after AFM, just connect it to a catch can or whatever
B= Charcoal cannister, if you don't have the charcoal cannister or don't intend to use it just block this hose off
C/D= these go to either side of the airccon vsv which you don't need, just block them off too.
E= this supplies air to the engine when the throttle is closed, ie idle. You need to duct this to filtered air after the air filter or just put a little filter on the pipe but it will be rather noisy.

Ok. O'll have to have a closer look on the P/S pump to see where they come from next weekend when I go back up north again.

Sweet

I probably wont use it, but what are they used for?

I will have Air Con, so I might need these?

Easy enough to do.

Thanks
