Call a mobile guy - if I remember correctly, the going rate in Tauranga is about $30/rotor???

If its on your MR2, you may need to replace them, they've only got about 1mm of tolerance each side.

If you take the rotors out yourself, its about $40 a pair at pit stop. Theres a certain amount of tolerance as to how much they can remove from the disc, they cant be machined if theyre too worn or the scrathes are too deep.

Pitstop is RAPING you if they're charging that!!!! there is no reason why it should cost that much... holy crap!
Shouldnt cost more than $30 a rotor, if its more, you're getting reamed. BNT and such places do it for that...

$120 8O

take them out yourself and drop them into a machining shop that has a lathe. They should be able to do it for cheaper than that, unless the rotors are stuffed beyond machinable tolerance.

well the rotors have hotspots so i've been told, a lot of shake at high speed braking. So I might have to get new rotors. Maybe they'll go good with my TRD brake pads?

Hmm I'm confused, can anyone tell me where I can get replacement rotors for resonable price? Not "a mate's hookup" coz that'll be your hookup that I don't have access to.

wow theres a place in welly that does it for $20 each but prob best replace em as they are usally worn down close to the minimum level any machining and it will weaken it to much

every 1mm you take off adds about 2m to your stopping distance at 50kmh (or so i remember)

take 1mm off each side and that makes 2mm or 4 meters.......

New rotors = win.

Although Im not trying to argue this, and also say go for new rotors...how is this the case?
I mean, you machine it down 1mm of whatever, once you have bled the brakes and stopped once, they are still the same didtance from the disc as they would be with new rotors!...not an extra 1mm away.
Cant believe im still a member here.

Rubbish, skimming would ONLY impact heat handling. On your first hard stop it would have exactly ZERO IMPACT on stopping distances. Thats like saying vented rotors will stop your car faster. They don't they simply maintain the ability to stop for longer before overheating.
