Fuel injection on rwd DX, etc

Hey,
has anyone done converted a carby to a injected?
what did you about fuel lines? was thinking of upgrading the line's
fuel pump?
any hints?

Grab a line off another TE or KE 70/71 for your return, easier than trying to bend one to fit and will clamp straight in beside the original. My KE70 has the pump mounted to the front edge of the tank behind the diff, but it was a wagon. Surge was sorted by welding a 4 inch diameter pipe around 3 inches deep to the bottom of the tank under the drain bung (tank was drilled out), holds around 0.5 L and pump feeds off the side of this. May be tricky on a sedan/liftback due to tank hanging lower. Return line was fed into original pickup. You can get cheap plastic EFI fuel filters too which make it easier to match up lines etc.

Bigger fuel line will not be necessary unless you are chasing mega horsepower. What engine are you putting in?

A carbutetted car only flows through the fuel line what the cars uses,
say maybe .25 litres a minute?

A fuel injected car flows full plump flow through the lines at all times which can be up to 3 or 4 lires a minute.

Also a carb'd car probably will not have a return line where as a EFI car does need one.

Yes as I noted above you do need a return line, I just used another standard feed for the return. Carb may use less gas as it is not recirculating fuel, but it is also sucking the fuel rather than pushing at high pressure. I compared my factory 3T-GTE fuel line to the KE70 one and there was minimal difference, given people can step up the horsepower of a standard car quite significantly without replacing the lines then unless you are chasing big horsepower an upgrade is not necessary. If you are chasing massive power then yes an upgrade is worthwhile.

Also remember if youre using your standard lines, replace all of the rubber sections with EFI rated rubber.
