how to test vvt pulley

for those of you who have a 4age 20v and think the vvt pulley may have failed....

you can hear what a sick one sounds like.... and what happens when you apply 12v to it

unplug the vvt solenoid, and apply 12v to the 2 terminals if the knocking ceases then its a faulty pulley, if it persists, then its something else

any comments before i ask for this to be faqed?
