when i start up my ae101 silvertop in the cold ( has happened last 2 days on this year) i get a sound straight after start up. (THe sound is exactly the same to when you try to start a car when its already on).
what is causing this? it has to have something to do with the coldness because it hasn't happened all summer!!! any thoughts? is it electrial?
drive is staying engauged in the starter when u releace the key from start. prolly getting gunked up with clutch dust. starter needs a clean out and lube possibly chuck in sum new bushes and brushes while ya at it. take it off yaself and drop it into a sparky fix it up for round $100 then its perty much a new starter motor
1991 gtz trueno "HELL YEA" 4 sale (sold and i miss it so)
Ive come accross several 4age starters that wear on the far end of the motor- after the gear (sorry tyred & descriptive qualities gone).
They caused both initially the sound you descrive, and later cause it to loose starting power due to missalignment in the housing.
Ive made up new bushes for them before & had no issues after that.
