How to make sideys idle and actally work?

Postby TygerTung » Sun Apr 17, 2005 11:55 pm

OK, I've got a powerful 5K engine, and I've fitted a pair of 40mm sidedraught dellorto's.

Now this is a HUGE improvment over the standard carby, and it works mint when you have your foot down or close to it, but at cruising speeds, it pops and splutters and it wont even think about idling!

OK, first off, how do I make it idle, and I reckon the low throttle hicups are due to the carby's not being balanced, but I can't balance them if it won't idle!!!!

Who's a good place to take it to to get looked at before the weekend.... The tuning actually seems to be fine, i checked it with my exhaust gas analyser and she seems pretty good, I just want to get it idling for now!

here's a link that may be of use:

if the carbs are in good condition with no manifold leaks, you should be able to make a vast improvement yourself. Failing that , if your jetting is out, Kelford Camtech usually stock tuning parts. if you can't sort it out , ask Deane at Palmside VERY nicely if he could get someone to tune it, or supply parts.
