Postby B1NZ » Fri Apr 22, 2005 9:34 pm

So at the mo i have Lucas pads which have lasted about 1- 1/2 years, so what i want is something that stops well and hopefully has less brake dust than the lucas and ideas/prices/places to go?

all help appreciated

genuine is the best. email mr rev head for a price. i think they are about $75. often the aftermarket ones get noisey after a little while and dont last as long. You can get anti-dust pads aftermarket not sure on price.go to repco or BNT.
want a ae86, dont want to pay 8 grand for one
have to settle for my ae92

No mintex are better, but cost over $100 for a front set, makes my car stop from 100kph to 0kph in 3 sec.

I agree 100%. But then if (like B1NZ) you care about how dusty your wheels get, then obviously the PERFORMANCE of your brakes are not your main concern ... and you're probably not braking from race paces.

I've run M1166's on the starlet and never looked back. Mind you they do cost a fair bit more than OEM units and are a race compound.

Horses for courses.

Cheers,

Paul. ;)

A bit pricey.

I have Lucas in my 111, they're good pads but a bit too dusty(thems the breaks for being asbestos free)

Hey mate...

I've used Mentex M1177.. The newest one out... It's great but depends on your usage....

Street will last for ages... with brake dust but... if you are not concerned about that then I strongly recommend it...

For track use... It's fantastic... but it's only lasted 3 months... the supplier said I must be applying 'extreme' braking.... to only last 3 months... usually lasts 6- 12 months...

It's costs... $356.92NZD

I run Mintex 1166 on my club car, and the pads are showing a few signs of cracking after 18 months of clubsport use. Bugger all wear on the pad.

But I have had to replace the discs!!! Very hard on standard discs.

Stands the car on its nose though.

Don't know that you'd need them for road use.
