ok yeah yamaha do make some of the heads for toyotas like the 3SGEs in the altezza which have extra work done to them with the ports and vavles being bigger and better. Altezza have a lexus equvilent cant remember the model (i think its is200) which is pretty much exactly the same which is probably why you got told it was the same as the lexus

must be rs200 as i said i couldnt remember.... but yeah they are better than just a ordinary 3sgte head. would be more noticable in the high rev range

Sniff, sniff.... yep smells like BS to me, what's the tech forum coming to that this blatantly incorrect info stays around for so long unchallenged

All 3S's have a Yamaha head, as well as a lot of other Toyota engines. It's all part of a technology sharing agreement between Toyota and Yamaha that's been going on for the last 30 years or so. There's nothing special about a Toyota engine with a Yamaha head, it's more common than not for that to be the case.

Don't know if the gold badges signify anything but I don't think so.

The Caldina engine is not quite the same as the MR2/GT4, it has higher compression, coil on plug ignition, different intake manifold, a different exhaust manifold and turbo, and quite a few other parts that are different. I've made several posts on the differences, I suggest you use the search to find out what they are.
