I used to jump start my VR4 with a Uniden alarm in it all the time, because I hardly drove it the alarm kept flattening the battery, it got jump started maybe 20 times, and never caused a problem.

Alarm was a Uniden VS2600.

It should be fine. Make sure you use the "computer safe" jumper cables (they have an additional fuse in the middle that will blow if it overcharges).

I've jump started plenty of cars with alarms ... never had a problem.

Hahahah agreed! :D

Good thing I'm dark blonde ;)
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

That would be a surge protector in the middle. More of a capacitor than a fuse ;)

And you should be able to jump start it assuming you have the remote for the alarm. Generally if you put the jumper leads on the alarm will sometimes be set as its just had its power cut so its a protection setup. When you give it power it sets itself so you push the button on the remote and the alarm is off, start the car as usual.

If the alarm isn't set when you put the leads on then just start the car.

I'm no electronics whizz, but I thought a capacitor stored power and released it in pulses as it builds up ... ?
*shrug*

You get the idea ;)

Thats what a capacitor does but it also removes spikes (unless it is full). They dont always lose their charge quickly, it depends on what is drawing the charge from the capacitor.

And yeah... best steer clear of the ginge :P
