TINTS!!

Postby TruenoBZG » Tue May 24, 2005 6:46 pm

I would like to tint my windows on my '96 Trueno this weekend.

Let me get legal here - 35% for the drivers window, or BOTH passenger and driver's windows??

Also - Can I use 5% for the rear windows {no doors} ???
I've seen it done but didnt know if they had warrants...

Thanks

Try looking up the rules on the LTSA site, it is all clearly spelt out there and has been posted on here so many times its not funny.

Ill save you the trouble.

Front windows (directly to left and right of driver), only 35% legally allowed
Rear quarters, 35%
Rear shield, 35%

i had 20% on my rear quarter, got failed at LTSA. So take that as you will.

however my local garage would have passed me (only took it to ltsa for a *FULL warrent*, but meh). Needless to say, i only goto my local now!

35% all round except the windscreen is the legal limit as stated above. some local garages will let you get away with darker ones although it could be a hassle for insurance purposes. some insurance companies will reject a claim if they think the reduced visibility caused it. mirror tints are illegal aswell just incase you were thinking above it.
want a ae86, dont want to pay 8 grand for one
have to settle for my ae92

Bear in mind too, that most cars do have a slight tint from factory...if your WOF man is feeling picky, he can fail you, even if you did use 35% VLT tint film
1988 KE70 Wagon - Slowly rusting
1990 NA6 MX-5 - because reasons
2018 Ranger - Because workcar
1997 FD3S RX-7 Type R - all brap, all the time
OMG so shiny!
