poping out of 5th gear

Well I just picked me up a ST170 1.8l Corona as a daily driver.. MINT body and only 164,000k's (its a 1988) but upon driving it home along the motorway it kept poping out of 5th gear though sometimes it would hold it fine Could this be a linkage problem or something? The thing is that at 100km/h the corona is reving at 2,500rpm in 5th and only 3,000rpm in 4th gear at 100km/h so when it does pop out of 5th gear I can still comfortably cruise in 4th at 100km/h.. its just a bit of a hassel. ALSO.. dam speed chime at 105km/h AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!! so will have to take the dash out and remedy that!

Any advice on the gearbox problem would be most appreciated!

This was covered not long ago common problem on fwd for the mounts to be shagged and stuff ya 5th gear, hit the search.

i have struck this before and its usually the dog teeth on the shift hub and gear are worn.
