temperature guauge

hey guys i got a what might might be either a fualty temperature guage in my AE101 levin or its just the radiator doing a damn good job, whenever im cruising through town or a 50kph zone the gauge is showing just under the halfway way mark but as soon as i take it up 100 - 110kph he gauge drops down to just above the bottom line.
what do guys think

My mates 20v levin has the same problem, but its cold all the time, even when he's thrashing it.
