i know i know!!!!

Buy new rocker cover gasket.

Tools: Prob a 10mm spanner, flat head screw driver, spark plug socket, feeler gauge, haynes manual or similar.

Find the tappet clearences from the manual. Do when car is cold

Find correct feller lever

Take all spark plugs out, so your not fighting compression.

Starting with Cyl 1, Rotate crank untill pison is at Top Dead Centre on the firing stroke.

Undo that top 10mm nut on top of p/rod

put the feeler gauge in between the rocker and the p.rod(i think its the p.rod its hitting?)

While the spanner is still on the nut, tighten with flat head screw driver

LEFTY LOOSEY,RIGHTY TIGHTY

Tighten untill the feeler gauge can slide in with a bit of resistance but not much.

Leave Screwdrive ontop of flathead screw your adusting on top of the p.rod, while you tighten up that 10mm bolt.

Rotate crank a bit more untill the next piston is up. You know this buy gentally poking screwdriver down the sparkplug hole. Keep a hold of it though so it doesnt scrape the cyl. Bore. Just before you feel piston going down, thats where it should be.

To turn crank, push the fan around.

Repeat on remaining cyls.

(im 16, correct me if wrong)

(my expecerience was on a datsun 1200, so hope its similar)

I was under the impression the 5k is hydraulic
if it has tappets (I dont know the older toyo motors much), they are generally pretty easy to set. Take off the rocker cover, you will see the rockers. On one side of these will be a nut, inside the nut a shaft with a flat head screwdriver head. Basically, you get the rocker in question to the point where it has the most gap between it and the valve (i.e. when it is not open). Usually, for example, you meauser valve #1 when #8 is fully open- but this will depend on the individual engine. you then loosen the nut, and screw the head down to the correct gap measuring with a feelergauge. Tighten the nut back up, measure again and done.
Thats how to do them, but you do need the spec's. If no one has them here, just go to the library.
Cant believe im still a member here.

If you have a lumpy cam, ring the company up who modified it and tell them the cam specs. They may have a diffrent clearence setting compared to toyota specs.
I have no idea if it has hydralic tappets, but i wouldnt have thought so. :?
