Yet another electrical fault - temperature guage not working

Postby gordon77 » Thu Jul 28, 2005 10:40 am

hey ppl last week my factory water temperature guage stopped working. so me thinks ok its a sender thing so i replaced that but it didnt fix it (after finding out it was $80 i took it back to repco and put my old one back in). i tested the connector and its connecting to the sender.
i have pulled the guage out of the cluster and am wondering if there is any way i can test it.
also the sender has a 2 pin connector sticking out of it, i thought temp senders only had 1 pin. im guesing one is a ecu thing and one for the guage?
i will try and test the lines from the sender to the guage today

anything i have missed? this is a rather annoying thing to have stopped working

is that in your ae92?
did you change the 2 pin sensor at the end of the block above gearbox?
if so from memory thats just for the cold start, and ecu

the guage sender is a single terminal type,
and is located at the cam belt end, at the back of the engine, in front of #1 intake runner, i think the alternator tensioner bracket comes off were it is, ohh yea its were the dip stick goes down

check that the wire is on.
