squeek when cliutch outpressed

Postby GTCRSHR » Sat Aug 13, 2005 12:04 pm

Hi guys just a weird one ... was listening to my motor last night while driving along and noticed this noise ....

it sounded to me like a belt slipping the squuek that you get when thats happening only very subtle .... i couldnt for the life of me figure out what it was untill i sat in the drive way and tried a few things

its only a very like squeek when the clutch is NOT pressed in (ie normal driving)

and when you press it down even just a tad it goes away ...

its not the pedal its in the engine bay some where

any iodeas ? pressure release bearing going ?

thanks for any help

its a ae101 corolla fxgt with 80odd thou km

no, thrust bearing is at it's maximum stress when you push the clutch in, don't give wrong info out if you're not sure.
(That's for most types of cars as far as I know, there might be some weird pull type gearboxes)
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

had an worn input bearing in a mates gts25 gearbox make sortof similar noise. When you touched the clutch pedal it went away. wouldnt call it a squeal as such, but also didnt sound like a bearing...

the bearing actually can make noises while not loaded... squeak is one of them. There is a way to check it - push fork towards the clutch slave cylinder (compressing it along the way), it will move the bearing away from plate, so it will not rotate, if noise dissapears, you will know what is wrong.

Yes, my apologies, I'll take what I said back.

The bearing can make noise in such a way that it only makes noise when there's no load to it.

if it's your throwout bearing, it's almost as much work as changing a clutch.
