carbs on 4age

Postby loceda » Wed Aug 31, 2005 10:35 pm

i know this sounds like a really dumb question but does anyone know if any factory carb manifolds (eg 3A, 4A etc) fit onto 4age's?? my dads putting one in a offroader and wants to get it going asap temporarily
suspension travel is an optional extra

nope nothing will fit, the carbed A-series engines are either single cam or FE heads which have very different ports. best bet is to inject it it should work out cheaper than going with sideys

Yea, go efi. Offroading will probably mess with the floats if you went carby anyways

3a carb, electric fuel pump, a 90 degree down pipe bend onto stock manifold and heaps of duct tape. sounds good(shit) in my head+have fun with that throttle linkage

Stock floats don't behave well in offroading. There are some carbed cars out there, but they tend to have aftermarket floats, drill the carbs for equalizing... and still don't run very well. The big 8 boys almost get away with it in offroading, where their fueling mix isn't as critical. However they still have problems with going up and down hills and climatic changes.

The EFI setup isn't that hard to get running. Its just a matter of taking your time and tracing through the wiring loom. Run a wire at a time and make sure you get a true connection with both the ECU and whatever it's designed to plug up to.

You can find ECU pinouts on www.club4ag.com

If your Dad is going to modify the motor he might want to look at getting something like a Link now.. its very simple to setup and will allow for any future modifications.

I run a Link in my 4age driven offroader.

If you are forced to run carbed. Palmside do a carb manifold here in CHCH. You are best to mate it to dellortos as the standard floats tend to last longer than most others.
