search is your friend, this has been covered many many times.

my suggestion

- Pod filter in CAI box
- Full exhaust system including headers (if you gots the $$$) , otherwise just from flexi back, use 2 and a quarter inch piping. To keep it lookin original just get a high flow sports muffler, not a fart can.
- TRD lowering springs
- Sum decent tires (mabey sum direzza DZ101's or eagle f1 GSD3's)
- And mabey sum non bling 5 spoke mags just to brighten it up a bit, prob nothing bigger than 16's

this all really depend on how "STOCK" you want to keep the car, but yea, if you looking for performance to start, do the exhaust and intake.
I had vtax :(

yuck...ST162 :P

Well for performance upgrades the best I can suggest is ditch the gen 1 3SGE ALL TOGETHER! chuck in a gen 2 (and gearbox) or a gen 3. Far better engines and make much better power at the right times.

As far as looks go, heres a couple of pics of mine, just had sport low springs and 15 inch TSW's...Thats all you need with out going over the top.

Yeah belive it or not my celica in those pics had just under 300,000km on it.
I would have to ageee the ST162 is the best looking fwd celica.
I'm still convinced the best thing you can do is chuck in a Gen 2 3SGE :)

I have a question, if you put a 3rd gen 3S-GE into a car with a 1st gen 3S-GE do you have to get certification even tho the chassis plate (or whatever you call it...the thing that states the type of engine, type of frame, etc.) only specifies the 3S-GE and not any particular engine number? (and my corona specifies a 3S-GELU...LU meaning the engine meets japanese emission control?)

na just swap the engine. it will use the same engine mounts and wont have a increse of 20% power so no cert needed.

clutch kit - 200ish
gearbox - 1000, shop around and you may be lucky to find a good one under that but dont get your hopes up.
3rd Gen 3SGE, shouldnt be too hard to find a wrecked SSII - price, no idea, im guessin round $1000 - $1500, not sure tho.
install - do it ya self, much cheaper, not sure how much labour it would be to take old gen1 out, put in gen3 etc, but it wont be cheap, got a run about car, make it into a project.

whats wrong with the CV? needs replacing, needs boot? have to be more specific.

steering, should be, but i hav no idea :P

$1000 for a gearbox? you've got to be joking right? Unless a gearbox is something special (like an mr2 turbo box with LSD, for instance), you shouldn't pay more than about $400, and much less if you're smart about what you buy

why would you give him a price for a gen6 gearbox when he asked what a gen3 would cost.

ah ha
gen 3 3sge happens to be in a gen 6 celica
still I don't see the point of upgrading a gearbox if it's going to cost that much, especially since it's still just an s series box.

because the GEN 3 3SGE is in the ST20# or (GEN 6) Celica

i know what your saying all fours, but i reakon if you were to do the transplant anyway then why not fit an LSD, but yea, hes wanting to do it, im just giving my opinion on it. Sorry i didnt make it clear which gearbox i was referring to :)
