Blue top cam installation problem

Postby wanado13's » Sat Oct 22, 2005 4:37 pm

I have just done my cambelt, idler, and seals and put a pair of bluetop cams in my ZE. Everything was put in right, timing is right and when I tried to start it up it turns over 4-5 times and then it dies and then repeats that cycle. My starter motor was sweet before I started but my mechanic mate I did it with said it could be that. Has anyone who has put bluetop cams in a gze had this issue? is there anyone in chch willing to come have a look or something?

Ummm.... isn't the CAS geared onto the exhaust cam? Which would mean you'd have to take the CAS out to get the exhaust cam out?

oh I thought you meant the actual sensor itself  but you mean the teeth inside the cam cover? Yea it could've moved when doing it. if this is the prob how do I fix it?

Well you need to put it back in in the same place that it came out of so its pointing at the right place at TDC. Much like putting a distributor in a tooth or 2 out, throws your spark wayw ay out and it just wont run. As for getting it back in the right place, someone else on here should know. I remember mine being a bit of hit and miss
