Cheap Fix: Noisy Car

Postby Sanxta » Tue Oct 25, 2005 3:52 pm

I need to shut up my excessivley loud Trueno, criteria are:

I'm not paying a cent
Preferebly it won't involve ramming rags up the muffler

yeah yeah call me cheap and all but I'm past the point of wanting to spend any more money on this car.

Cheers

Find a mate with a welder.

Weld a metal plate to the place where the headers bolt up to the engine. You should have no noise after that...

Or make a plate, same shape as one of your flanges, but make the hole smaller, maybe 2" so it restricts it, then bolt it in with a couple of gaskets between the flanges, wont do wonders for power, would be similar to chucking a silincer in your muffler but will be real easy and cheap.

i used a Wynns ol flush can.... cut slits in the side and holes in the bottom, filled it with steel wool and hose clamped it on the 3" tip...

worked wonders till i gave it some high-ish RPM loving ;)

made a huge difference

Try use a paperclip. It's a universal low-baller item that you can bend and shape it to all your needs.
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

I am surprised at how cheap paperclips are nowadays... It seems like just yesterday that a red one sold for $170 odd on Trademe.

Find the nearest pit stop, go there at 10:00 at night and raid the scrap bin for useful mufflers

-get a mate with a welder to fit em :)
