Auto to manual conversion

Postby supraman_nz » Wed Oct 26, 2005 7:15 pm

Iv been looking at Some MK4 NA Supras but most seem to be auto ( well in my price range anyway) I had a bit of a search on here and google but only found conversions for Rz's.
I was wondering How much would it cost and what would be involved with doing a Auto to manual conversion. ( Assuming i would do no work myself)
And after its done would it look like a normal manual or look odd?

You could end up with it looking absolutly factory, but be aware that manual jz parts are very hard to get and or expensive, but if you're willing to pay, anythings possible. My guess would be that you're better off buying a manual in the first place, as the cost of conversion would be more than price difference between a manual and auto jza80.
This is an educated, but totally off the top of my head figure, but i would expect it would cost at least $3500 drive in drive out to have the conversion done by a workshop, but there are so many different options, from all factory stuff or lots of custom work that its really hard to say for sure. Do you change the ecu to a man one or trick the auto ecu? genuine bell or adapter plate? can you find pedals, console etc 2nd hand or will it have to be all new from toyota? Labours probably not too bad, but finding the parts (and paying for them!) will be the killer.
