Caldina GTT or GT

Postby Rollin007 » Sun Nov 27, 2005 3:04 pm

Hey peeps

Well ive been reading the forums on all the caldina topics for a while now but the comparison doesnt seem to have been made with what type of Caldina to get and the pros and cons of both. Yes i have searched.

My friend has the GT version with the non-turbo Beams engine and told me that it goes better than the GTT turbo. The GT has about 140kw stock with the GTT having 191kw. Comparing the 1998-2000 models.

Does anyone have an opinion of which of the cars is better and the pros and cons of both.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers

8O yeah he's right, a 140kw fwd will be out perform a 190kw awd! Your friend may be living in a world of his own where fat chicks are hot and cops are your best friends.......

Many opinions about the caldina's mine is that they are a very nice wagon with a overly boring interior design and stupid standard 15inch mags and have a crap turning circle.

On the other hand they have a fair whollop of power standard and can be had for about 13.000 dollars nowadays.

Firmer suspension and a set of 17inch rims and a leather interior option, and then your talking a bit more how they shoul have come standard.

my two cents.

Nah, GT version is a bit too heavy for the beams motor....

IIRC its 1400kgs or so, and only comes with the 190hp version of the beams motor, strapped to an automatic gearbox. :(

Not even in the same league as a GTT really!

No use to you for much in NZ, mine had a navigation system in there pop out screen etc , i ripped it out as it does nothing for me and will add guages at a later date.

some have a fuel consumption thing and avg speed etc too rather than navigation with buttons and stuff.

Seems there is a few different extras on them.

its a teletext and trip computer,

there is a whole lot of additional stuff in there, but the main useful features are

Compass, Average Fuel Consumption, Average Speed.

The GT is good at a hundred k's, on the motorway or crusing, at a hundred the car sits on about 2600pm... I have had over 500k's out of a tank once, nana driving the whole time... I will agree with the comments from GT-Trainer, The car dosent have a great turning circle, but with the strut brace and firmer suspension has certinly made a huge diffrence as far as ride quality goes, and with the interior, the leather steering is comfy and the seats are good on long trips too...

Unfortunately, not so.....

The 210hp engine only came in the Manual Altezza.

The Auto Altezza came with a 200hp engine,

the manual celicas and MR2s came with a 200hp engine, and the automatic MR2s, Celicas, calidinas etc. came with the 190hp version.

If it is any consolation, Lynn Rogers says that the Auto version has a superior head design. :)

Interested in a swapsee for the green-screen trip computer? I'm looking for a top piece where I can use the din slot for a stereo.

Am planning on using the slot and moulding the new guages into it so they are more visible to me. Currently mounted in ashtray hole and looks fine but want more tidy look and angle will face me then. Think it's in a different space anyway dude.

just put 17's on her for what its worth, springs to come yet still (bloody TRD ex japan) cant wait. Would post pics but cant host.
