inconsistent starting??

still having problems with my 4age starting inconsistently...

the only consistency i've found is that it won't change unless I turn the car off and start it again. i can start the car fine, drive it 300km without a miss, turn it off and then start it again straight away and it runs like sh*t.

what can be causing this? keeping in mind that it ONLY EVER CHANGES WHEN I START THE ENGINE. never while the engine is running.

it is completely random in doing this, for example I started the engine about 30 times in a row tonight with no problems, then it started badly and would hardly idle then it started fine again.

i've been told it could be a faulty ignition backing so to replace that. i've replaced all the relays. It will be a few days before I can get hold of another ignition backing for it, so has anyone got any other ideas in the mean time that I can follow up?

ps - its a 4age bluetop, ae86 ecu and loom etc...
