20valve with aftermarket ECU - problem..

Postby EVL20V » Fri Dec 02, 2005 5:57 pm

ok,

silvertop 20valve. running a link V4.

wired up using MAP & TPS.

problem = sitting idling, plant the foot or even just 1/2-3/4 force and it bogs and farts and hesitates and then once past 2500rpm its mint

possible solutions? - injectors wiring? run it 100% TPS? ignition?

NOTE: has just had full tune and ecu rewire, so timing/mixture etc all sweet. but #@$@#% if we know y it does that. how can this be fixed?

ALSO - how is ur 20v with aftermarket ECU wired up? and with link?

cheers people :)

95, but try to use 98, wouldnt be that at fault would it, as once over 2500rpm she flys 8)

its in an 85 corolla sedan, fuel pressure is sweet aswell. :?

sucks trying to drive away but she bogs and i hold up the traffic, sometimes it stalls  go the 4000rpm gentle take offs

hehe
i dont liek link that much lets put it that way, seen to many cars with problems.

Maybe u need this special thing for the map sensor cos u got quads and and does something to the signal and makes it smoother, cos apparantly its not smooth

The problem is not with Link or their products, it's with all the cowboys & idiots out there fitting & tuning them that don't know what they are doing. I should know as I get to fix everyone $&#$% ups with Link's. Their new Linkplus G2 is on a par with a Motec M400 at less cost.

Anyone who slags Link obviously either doesn't know what they are doing or else was got a poor install or tune. I know of several 700hp+ skyline gtr's running Linkplus, numerous 500hp+ wrx's & evo's on early plug in LEM's. The year Possum won the goldrush he run a Linkplus. The majority of problems with Link are not to do with the product, hence the reason why Link is slowly going back to having Dealers again & only selling to them as they'll now the product & know how to use the new Link stuff

I always thought that selling direct was an idiotic move from Link. Great way to get little product support and piss off your dealers all in one move.

For the fault at hand, I'd be looking at map signal, the first accl enrich zone or if its been PCLink tuned with an early version at some stage, it will be TPS only. (bug in the code) You'll need to download a later version and reset the field... oh and if your attempting to use an old saved map ensure you record 100 fuel and ign as the new version doesnt convert it correclty.
The answer is Helmholtz!

its called a acumulator
the blacktops have them installed at factory

its not just link that has this issue
any map drivin ecu will have dificulty if you dont have a stable map signal

:D

it could also be where you're taking the map signal from.
You need to take it from the idle passage, thats the top chamber on the intake manifold that the quads screw on to.
I had no problems at all with my link.
It all depends who's tuning it. I think the biggest problem with novice's is the understanding of interpolation, cold start and accel inrichment.
