st165, what colour is oxy sensor wire?

Postby DFECTED » Sun Dec 18, 2005 10:29 am

there are three wires floating around that area that arent connected, its missing badly under load and no matter which wire I hook the oxy sensor to it still brings up the fault code.

I just need to know the colour of the wire the goes to the sensor

cheers

how many wires does the oxygen sensor have?
If its one wire it will probbly be black. Two wire is black and white and three wire is black with two white wires.

Missing under load could also be a lead.

its not black :D
its white at the ecu end so it will be eathier white off white or a browny color at the sensor end

the color changes from the heat :D

the oxy sensor is a single black wire, with a yellow plug, after the plug it turns into a ?? color wire with a heat resistant sheeth over it.
Just a prime example of somebody who dosnt have a clue what they are talking about.
IT IS BLACK.

From this I gather that he wants the "colour of the wire the goes to the sensor" - which is black in my car anyway (from the loom side). On the sensor side is irrelavant, unless the factory wire has been cut. In which case it dosnt matter anyway. If it did matter the wire from the plug to the sensor is not color coded as such as it has a heat proof rubber based cover which is tightly wrapped with a heat resistant sheeth, which is again covered with a loose heat resitatant cover.

Dont have a clue about what you are talking about here "and unfortunatly for you have just installed a a/f guage on that very wire not more than a week ago" I dont even have an A/F gague.

Please before you go round thinking that you are the man take a chill pill and realize that there are always people who make $&#$% ups and you might be one of them.
NO more B/S please.

i gave you a link to a ecu pinout and wire color code
Code: Select all

IT IS BLACK.

i have to say ans this is what i didnt understand
why would he ask for the wire color off the sensor
i mean it is attached to it
he goes on to say he has bare wire
so im guessing they are no longer covered

mistakes i have no issue with everone makes them
but then attacking the guy thats tring to help with the right info..... well
that s what pisses me off

its nothing personal
and i hope to meet you at one of our hamilton meets

K, sorted.
The ECU pin out wire colour is White.
The Engine bay wire colour in my 1987 GT celica is black.
Either the wire changes colour somewhere, or toyota made a wire colour change somewhere.
Sorry that I took it personally, the reason for that was you burnt me on another post for no apparent reason. Hope that this dosnt continue. When is the next Ham meet, ive never been to one, and havnt a clue what they are about please let me know.

Thanks for all the info, I found the sheilded wire and I dont know what colour is used to be but now its brown. I connected it to the O2 sensor and changed the leads.

I now see 14psi on the boost gauge, the most I have ever seen, it normally cuts/ misses at 5psi. The only difference is it now cuts/ misses at 14psi, is this boost/ fuel cut im hitting?

I now only get fault code 11

and when not in diagnostic mode the engine check light stays on
