Levin Bzg Blacktop > Skyline GTST?

Postby mauvis99 » Thu Dec 22, 2005 7:17 pm

Hey is there any way i can get my bzg to have the same power as a stock gtst? According to http://english.auto.vl.ru/catalog/ my levin pushes 123kw and gtst's stock have 157kw, is it poss for me to climb to 157kw? what kinda mods would i have to do? Cheers.

three way to it
1) buy a gtst (easyest and cheapest way to get gtst power)
2) turbo your engine
3) sell your kidney or two then race prep your engine and car. cams, exaust, aftermarket ecu, forged internals..... then rev the sh*t out of it

Hahaha. I'd go with number 1, you could probably buy 2 or 3 GTSt's with what you'd end up spending to make your car go like one.

Are you sick of getting beaten by your mates' GTSt, and want revenge or something? Bear in mind power isn't everything, the GTSt's are heavy bastards, but have torque for Africa, coupled with the fact that 99% of GTSt's have at least an exhaust/pod filter, giving them another few hp.. whereas 4ages aren't exactly torquey, but are usually in much lighter cars..

Seriously, if you want to beat a GTSt down the quarter mile, one option would be to totally strip your car, spend $5000- $6000 either turbo'ing it or making it rev to 10,000rpm.. or just sell your car, buy a GTSt for $4000, spend a couple of grand on an exhaust/pod, wind a bit more boost into it, and you're done.

I can honestly say, having owned several turbo Nissans, and plenty of Toyota's, I'd take a Nissan anyday, hence why I have one now! :)

Yeah I dont want to beat it down the quater mile or anythin like that just want to get it to the same power as a stock gtst? that shouldnt be to hard? maybe an extra 30 kw if i put an exhaust in to prep it up to 150ish kw?

You're going to be either wanting to turbo it, or set fire to a pile of money and hope for the best.

In a nut shell. No, buy something faster to start with. Not being rude about 4AGE's or anything (because I have the same myself), but fundamentally the cheapest way to make 99% of cars significantly faster is to sell them and buy something faster.

If you want to go hunting Skylines, buy a Silvia.

Go to www.fortyone.co.nz

See how much cams, ecu's and things cost for said Blacktop20V then go buy a GTSt... or an MR2.

Plus the fact I'd eat my hat if your levin has 123kW behind it

A better way to have worded this would have been "How can I make my n/a 1600cc road car gain 40kW?"

I reckon you wouldnt be much off a GTST the way your car is now. Your levin would weigh heaps less. My 20v wagon can pull away (...just...) from turboed legacy's down the motorway and I can generally hang on the tail of libero gt's without too much effort.

Just remember, even if your car had as much "power" as a GTST, it would still feel completely different. Turbos kick it a lot lower than VVTi and simply having that power there wont give you the same sensation as a turbo.

If you want something that feels like a turbo, then buy a turbo.

Bz-v Vs GT leggy (old shape, 89ish), very on par, gt pulling ahead, EXTREAMLY slightly

Bz-v vs Gts-T skyline (R32), skyline with 5 people in it. Launching the gts-t caves up, once moving the skyline still romps ahead easily..... torque does that lol

in short, no, you wont ever have a chance with a 1.6 na vs a 2 litre turbo.

might as well line up some evo's with the landcruiser :D.

Yep.

I've seen a stock as a rock, 200,000km old 2.0 Skyline still running totally factory (airfilter, cat convertor and all) but down 200hp at the wheels so they're not shy in that department either.

all you need to piss on a gtst is higer lift cams with adjustable cam gears,
trd head gasket, get the head planed to raise compression decent exhaust not too big, lighten flywheel and heavy duty brass clucth and apexi pigy back fuel comp about 2500 to 3000 of mods.

Nah dude, It's just the last place I visited to look at Blacktop stuff.

After just going for a fang down the road, Stock blacktop is pretty alright.

My MR2 was fun and so was the mazda but I love the whole BZG/R package.

See, I don't believe that, show me proof. Maybe you'd get half a car length until the RB spools up, then its' all over.

Not really, mine doesn't really see full boost until at least 3000rpm.
